The mysterious murder case of Indore-based businessman Raja Raghuvanshi, who went to Meghalaya for his honeymoon, has finally been solved. In a dramatic turn of events, Raja’s wife, Sonam Raghuvanshi, has been arrested by Meghalaya Police for orchestrating the murder along with her alleged lover Raj Kushwaha.
The Shocking Revelation
According to Meghalaya Director General of Police (DGP) Idashisha Nongrang, four people, including Sonam, have been arrested. The investigation revealed that Sonam was in an affair with Raj Kushwaha, and together they planned Raja’s murder by hiring contract killers.
Sonam surrendered to the police in Ghazipur, Uttar Pradesh, while the three contract killers – Akash, Vishal, and Anand – were arrested during a night raid. One of them was nabbed in Uttar Pradesh, and two others were caught in Indore by the SIT team.

Sonam is currently being held at the Sakhi One Stop Center in Ghazipur. The Meghalaya Police have reached the location and are expected to present her in the local court to obtain transit remand. If granted, Sonam will be taken into Meghalaya Police custody.
Brother of the Victim Speaks
Raja Raghuvanshi’s brother, Vipin Raghuvanshi, expressed shock, saying,
“We never imagined Sonam could do something like this. We’re still trying to understand why she did it.”
Sonam’s Brother Responds
Govind Raghuvanshi, Sonam’s brother, arrived in Ghazipur from Shillong. He stated:
“I have no idea about this. I was searching with police for 17 days. If my sister is guilty, she should be hanged.”
How the Murder Was Executed

Sonam and Raj planned the murder.
Raj hired three contract killers and stayed in touch via phone.
Sonam took Raja to a remote road near Cherrapunji, where the three killers – Akash, Vishal, and Anand – executed the murder.
Suspicious Behavior Before the Murder
Raja’s family revealed that Sonam took all her jewelry and withdrew ₹9 lakh from Raja’s bank account before the trip. This has raised suspicions that the murder was premeditated and financially motivated.
Police Medical and Legal Procedures
The three killers were taken to a district hospital for medical check-up before being presented in court. The Shillong police team will take them back to Meghalaya for further interrogation.
Sonam Claims Innocence
In a surprising statement, Sonam told police:
“I am not a murderer; I am a victim. I was kidnapped and left in Ghazipur by the abductors.”
Authorities are currently verifying her claims, though the evidence so far points toward her being the mastermind.
