The 71st Miss World is taking place in India after 28 years. Sini Shetty who is representing the country at Miss World 2024, is among the top 8 contestants.

The grand finale is being held today in Mumbai at the Jio World Convention Centre.

The event started at 7:30 pm IST, and is streamed live on SonyLiv, with Karan Johar as the host.

WHO IS SINI SHETTY?

Sini Shetty hails from Karnataka. In 2022, she represented the state at Femina Miss India 2022 and won the title. After completing a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting and Finance, Sini is currently pursuing a career in Finance as a Financial Analyst. While steadily pursuing her academic goals, Sini is also working for a Youth Marketing organisation.

She is also a model and a dance teacher with 15 years of training in Bharatanatyam. She completed her Arangetram at the age of 14.

Her Instagram profile is replete with her dance videos, and currently she has over 3 lakh followers on the social platform.

In her latest Instagram post, 22-year-old Sini posted a stunning picture in a floral Rohit Bal saree. “Proud to represent our culture and craftsmanship, and excited to bring India’s fashion to the forefront internationally,” she wrote in her post.

On February 9, Sini shared a post on Instagram unveiling her introduction video for the 71st Miss World pageant.

Speaking to news agency ANI, Sini Shetty expressed her excitement for the event and said representing 1.4 billion people is a huge responsibility.

“My representation means the world to me. I am not representing myself, I am representing 1.4 billion people and that’s a huge responsibility altogether because you are representing Indian culture, the diverse traditions that we have, the feelings and the emotions of each and every individual living in this country,” she told ANI ahead of the Miss World 2024 pageant.

The 71st Miss World Festival held in India marks a significant milestone as the event returns to the country after a hiatus of 28 years. 

“I didn’t want my daughter to have any regrets in the future,” says Hema Shetty.

“I told her, ‘Whatever you want to do, do it well.’ Upon hearing this, she burst into tears. Sini is a very determined girl. She respects her parents a lot. We have given her full support. Whatever she does now, she will have our complete support.”

Pursuing CFA After Completing Accounting and Finance Degree

Initially, Sini Shetty received her education from St. Dominic Savio School in Mumbai. Later, she graduated from S.K. Somaiya College of Arts, Science, and Commerce, Vidya Vihar. She pursued a degree in Accounting and Finance. Currently, she is pursuing CFA (Chartered Financial Analyst).

Sini’s Father is a Hotel Owner

Sini Shetty was born in 2000 in the Ghatkopar area of Mumbai. Her family hails from Karnataka. Sini’s father, Sadanand Shetty, is the owner of the Shikin Hotel in Navi Mumbai. Sini’s brother’s name is Shikin Shetty, who is an engineer in California.

Miss World Finale to be Held in India After 27 Years

On February 13, 2023, Miss World Organization’s Chairperson Julia Morley announced that Miss World 2023 would be held in the UAE. However, on June 8, 2023, it was announced that the finale would be held in India instead of the UAE. This is the second time in the history of Miss World that India is hosting it. Previously, the Miss World 1996 pageant was held in Bengaluru. Renowned filmmaker Karan Johar and Miss World 2013 Megan Young (Philippines) will be hosting the finale.
